My Story

Hello, My name is Tom.  I am a physician, father of five and a bit of a finance, philosophy and My Storypsychology junkie.  I started this site to help other high-income parents navigate the obstacles we all have in trying to raise well-rounded, well-adjusted, motivated and well-educated kids.

My wife and I married in 2000. Over that time we’ve acquired five more mouths to feed and minds to stimulate and grow. It has been a tiring, stressful, humbling, exciting, amazing and joyful ride, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The opportunity to see them grow and learn is wonderful. Then they teach me some of the same lessons I’ve taught them.

My wife and I haven’t always been great with money. In the first years of our marriage, we did alright, but we didn’t make intentional financial decisions. As our family grew, and I started to teach these hungry little minds, it is pretty difficult to not have a plan and expect them to listen to anything I have to say.

Make the Effort

I started to learn about parenting and personal finance. I stumbled upon the website and set out to read everything I could. I’ve read about our tax code and the intricacies we deal with as high-income earners.

Our everyday financial news is geared to teach the average American with an average salary.  I’m not only interested in finance and how it applies to our kids, but also the financial news that benefits higher earners. The information that helps us raise self-reliant and motivated children also interests me. I want them to ultimately care for themselves and lead the nation forward.

It would be nice if they care for dear old Dad in his old age as well. Hopefully, they bring the grandkids to visit once in a while, after they leave the house.

I want a place where those of us with higher salaries can share and aid each other with the specific problems we face.
